Community First Aid & CPR

Community First Aid & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

The City of El Segundo has provided Community First Aid & CPR for over a decade. The El Segundo Fire Department administers the program in partnership with the American Red Cross through a third-party provider contract with the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
We urge everyone to get training, you could save the life of someone you care about. New CPR standards were implemented in January 2006. The city began teaching the new CPR standards as of June 2006.
Annual Super CPR Saturday Event
The El Segundo Fire Department, with the support of the El Segundo High School and the American Red Cross, conducted its 11th Annual Super Saturday CPR Event on Saturday, June 23, 2007. 338 attendees completed certification.
The next Super CPR Saturday event will be held in the Spring of 2008. A date will be announced in February 2008.

The City of El Segundo offers training through a variety of courses:

First Aid
Adult CPR
Infant/Child CPR
Workplace CPR & AED

The offers training through a Summer CPR Program and Business & Industry (workplace).

National and Local CPR application standards have changed.

The application of CPR has undergone substantial changes in how this life-saving skill is applied. New techniques and standards have been implemented under the new program. For more information, please visit the American Red Cross webpage at www.redcross.org

Classes can be conducted with a minimum of 6 students per class. Due to a price increase - effective July 2006, class costs for 2006 are now as follows:

El Segundo Residents: $40.00

Non-Residents $45.00

Businesses: $45.00
