Mission Statement

The Support Services Division is responsible for receiving, cataloging, processing, and circulating all library materials. In coordination with the Information Systems Division in the City, it maintains all library technology equipment. The Circulation desk services uses a Web-based system to issue library cards, check-out materials, collect overdue fines and fees, and handle reserve items. The staff provides excellent customer service by promoting library book titles, offering basic directional information, overseeing the public copy machines, selling bus passes, and assisting the Friends of the Library with their book sales. The Cataloging section utilizes modern cataloging practices, current technology, and the Dewey Decimal System to process new materials so that they are organized on the shelves for efficient access and retrieval by library patrons. This division also oversees the circulation of materials at the School Libraries.
