2. Street Configuration -

1. Streets:
   
   1. Main Street, between Grand and Pine Avenues, should be narrowed to three lanes – two driving lanes and a continuous left turn lane. (S) (Diagram 2)

2. Curb Extensions:
   1. Curb extensions should be extended into the street at intersections and potentially at mid-block crosswalks. (C) (Diagram 3)

   2. Curb extensions should include special pedestrian paving, pedestrian amenities, and landscaping, as space permits. (C)
   3. Curb extensions should be well lighted for nighttime use. (C)
3. Parking:
   
   2. Parallel parking in both directions on Main Street should be maintained. (S) (Diagram 2)
      
4. Mid-block Crossings:
   
   1. A mid-block crossing of at least ten feet in width should be maintained, providing a direct linear connection between "Handprint" Alley and the Civic Center Plaza. (S)
   2. The mid-block crossing should have paving of a contrasting color and texture from the street. The mid-block crossing will be integrated into the Civic Center Plaza. (see Civic Center Plaza section below) (S)
