Our Police Department's shoulder patch portrays many of the fine attributes associated with the City of El Segundo. The Airplane represents our proximity to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The smoke stacks depict the Chevron USA Refinery, which was established in 1903. The refinery was Chevron's second on the West Coast, hence our name: EL SEGUNDO. The house reflects the importance of our residential community and its support for strong family values. The shoulder patch is set on the Pacific Ocean to illustrate our fine beach and temperate Southern California climate. The gold stars around the shoulder patch represent the El Segundo Police Officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Click on the stars below to learn about their sacrifice.
We are very proud of our patch. It represents the respect, integrity, service, and excellence we feel are inherent in our Department. Our mission is to provide a safe and secure community while treating all people with dignity and respect. This is accomplished by listening to people, serving them the way we would like to be served, and striving to exceed their expectations.
