Q. Do we take fingerprints?

The El Segundo Police Department provides Live-Scan fingerprinting services:

·         No appointment required, based on officer's availability

·         Available during business hours 07:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m.

·         You must bring a completed Request for Live-Scan Service form with you

·         The application form must provide a Miscellaneous Code or Billing Code for processing

·         Must provide a valid or current government issued identification

·         No INS fingerprint available

·         The cost of $30.00 fingerprints rolling fee, we accept cash, checks and money orders, checks made to the City of El Segundo.

Q. How do I report a street lamp outage?

Southern California Edison maintains our street lamps. All reports of street lamp outages should be directed to them at (800) 611-1911 or click here to report it online. Make sure you mention the exact location of the street lamp and have the pole number of the street lamp ready (pole numbers are located on the lamp pole itself).

Q. How to obtain a copy of a police report?

Contact the Police Records Section at (310) 524-2200 during business hours from 07:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A fee of $0.20 per page plus tax is charged for any Incident or Accident Report. Police Reports are released  to a person(s) authorized to obtain the Incident or Accident Report.

Q. Can I make a report over the phone?

No, with one exception. The ESPD will accept a report by telephone of a missing person, including runaways, without delay and will give priority to the handling of that report.

Q. How can I get my car out of impound?

Only the registered owner can get a vehicle out of impound. The registration must be up to date and the person must have a valid drivers license. If not, the registered owner must also bring a licensed driver to drive the vehicle. If the vehicle requires a smog check, fees must be deposited at the DMV and a moving permit must be obtained. All origional DMV paperwork must be brought to the station.

Q. How to file a restraining order?

Restraining orders are obtained at the Torrance Superior Court, 825 Maple Ave., Torrance (310) 222-8801.  Office hours are 8:30am - 4:00pm Mon-Fri. No police report is required to file a restraining order.

Restraining orders can also be obtained at the Inglewood Courthouse, One Regent Street, Room 201, Inglewood, CA 90301 (310) 419-6788 or 6789. Office hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri (Office is closed 12:00pm-1:30pm for lunch).

Q. Does the El Segundo Police Department serve court notices?

No, ESPD does not serve court notices. Los Angeles Sheriff Department Court Services does have a service.

Q. Does the city street sweep on rainy days?

Streets will still be cleaned on rainy days unless the amount of rainfall is sufficient enough to clean the streets. Street sweeping parking citations may still be issued during rainy days.

Street sweeping regulations are not enforced on the following observed holidays:

Last Monday in May                  Memorial Day
