Senior Club Trips

The Senior Club sponsors a variety of overnight trips designed for club members and their guests. The upcoming trips have tentative dates and costs. See the monthly Joslyn newsletter or trip flyers for details and sign-up dates. The Trip Coordinator, Chuck DeDeurwaerder, is available to answer questions and take sign-ups when he is not on a trip. Otherwise, the Joslyn Staff is available to take sign-ups after 1:30 pm. You can call Chuck at (310) 640-0891 for further information, to make an appointment to see him, or to discuss parking arrangements with him. All travelers participate at their own risk.


“Marines Take Millie Out for Wine” and stay and play overnight at Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort - 3 days

Join the group on a tour of the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park, the Base at Camp Pendleton, and a Welk Resort Show of “Thoroughly Modern Millie”.  We’ll stay at Harrah’s at Rincon for the nights between, and enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery.  Our third day, before returning home, we will have a real treat for lunch.  Loosen up and live a little.

Sept 10 – 12                   Cost  $320 - sharing.                        Single-Supplement - $100

 

Canadian River Cruise + ” - 9 days

From Toronto to Toronto, via Kingston, Thousand Islands, Montreal and Ottawa! Featuring Eastern Canada autumn colors!

Cost includes airfare, transfers, charter coaches, train, lodging, riverboat accommodations, park & event fees and 20 meals.  Boat capacity:  only 66 passengers.  Fly to/from Toronto.  Travel by “Magic Bus” to explore Toronto, then on to Kingston via the Canadian Automotive Museum, Presqu’ile Partk, and the Trent-Severn Waterway.  Review historic Kingston and board the M/V Canadian Empress.  Cruise the Thousand Islands, Fort Wellington, and Upper Canada Village.  See Lachine (old Montreal) and Omega Park. Visit: Cumberland Museum and Ottawa, with the Prime Minister’s Residence & Embassies.  Tour: Ottawa National Gallery, Parliament Hill, Supreme Court and Basilica of Notre Dame. Coach tour Train through the Algonquin Park and pass by Lake Simcoe before returning to Toronto and flight home.

“Nautical Inn Lay-about” Lake Havasu and surroundings - 4 days

Topock Gorge Jet Boats, Outback Off-Road Tour to Juniper Mine, Sonora Mojave Desert and Grand Canyon West with the “Skywalk” out over the Canyon.  Real excitement, and a new way to see Grand Canyon all from one place of lodging, the Nautical Inn Resort on Lake Havasu.

Nov 12 – 15                   Cost  $495 - sharing.                        Single-Supplement - $200

 

“Orchids & Trinkets for Santa” Santa Barbara & vicinity - 2 days

From Orchid Estates, Stewart Orchids & Island View Nursery to Mansions of Montecito and Hope Ranch.  Visit the Chumash Painted Cave and Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.  Antiques and bargain shopping for Christmas at the Oxnard Factory Outlets.  Have some great meals and take in Santa Barbara’s Christmas lights.

Dec 6 – 7        Cost  $240 - sharing.                        Single-Supplement - $80

 

Copper Canyon by Train & Van” Los Mochis to Creel & Batopilas - 9 days

Flights and lodging included.  Scoured by torrential rivers, Copper Canyon is a spectacular wilderness, deeper in places than the Grand Canyon.  Ride “El Chepe” with passengers up 8,000 feet from Los Mochis to Creel, through tunnels and over bridges.  The area is farmed by the Tarahumara, raising corn and goats, far from the reach of the modern world.  We’ll journey to the bottom of the Canyon and share tales with the Tarahumara runners.  The best of the Mexican National Parks system!
