The City of El Segundo encourages backyard composting. Composting is nature's way of recycling organic material, like leaves, weeds, grass and kitchen scraps. Bacteria and insects consume this material, producing a sweet smelling, nutrient -rich compost that can be used in your garden as a soil amendment, or as part of a homemade potting mix for house plants. You will save money and help the environment and your garden.
The City holds an annual composting and water-wise gardening workshop. The workshop is FREE and reservations are not needed.
The workshop will teach attendees kitchen waste reduction, composting, water-wise gardening and other gardening tools and has been very popular with El Segundo residents. There will be educational material for attendees. This workshop is open to all El Segundo residents and the public.
