The Friends of the El Segundo Public Library is a non-profit organization of volunteers committed to generating community interest and support for the El Segundo Public Library and encouraging the use of the library and its many services.

El Segundo Historical Committee
Purchase of special books and equipment for the Library
Annual educational scholarship
Specific Accomplishments:
Enable the Library to purchase more than $25,000 in specialized collection materials every year.
Established the El Segundo Historical Committee that seeks to preserve and display historical photos and memorabilia.
Funded the first phase of digitizing early El Segundo Herald newspapers to save our community's history and make it widely accessible.
Provided over $200,000 for library furnishings and equipment.
How We Make a Difference:
All year long, Friends volunteers undertake numerous fundraising and Friend-raising activities to achieve our goals, such as:
Inviting everyone who supports our mission to become a dues-paying member of the Friends. Memberships are our most important fundraising activity.
Participate in Community Events where we provide information about the Library and the Friends.
Organize ongoing sales of used books, games, puzzles, magazines and DVDs, plus our Annual Holiday Sale of donated items and collectibles suitable for gift-giving.
Why We Need Your Support:
The El Segundo Public Library is funded primarily through the City's general funds. Every service provided by the City of El Segundo competes for these limited funds.
Tax-deductible gifts to the Friends enhance the Library's services and programs.

We encourage you to become a dues-paying member of the Friends. Annual and Lifetime Memberships are our most significant fund-raising activity and reflect the broad community support that exists for our Library.

Please make checks payable to Friends of the El Segundo Public Library Inc. If your company has a matching gift program, please include the appropriate forms.
To help keep our expenses low so more of every gift can support our Library, we communicate with our members primarily via email. Please share your email address so we can provide you with the Library e-newsletter and other Friends news. We will not share your email address outside the Friends.
