This lively and entertaining series features classical and jazz programs, as well as music from different traditions. Programs in the series take place at 2:00 p.m. in the library’s Friends of the Library Room on the third Saturday of each month from September to May. All concerts are free and light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library.
Evening Book Discussion Group
From September to June (excluding December), join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month. Free to all, the meetings are held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Room.
Storytimes
Toddler and Preschool Storytimes, along with Library Club for lower elementary school age children and a Teen Program for grades 6 and up, are offered in sessions throughout the year. Registration opens the week prior to each session and is required for the Toddler and Preschool programs.
Author Fair
Held on the first or second Sunday of June, the Author Fair is the library’s wildly-popular event in which people get to meet local writers, poets, and illustrators. Two author panel discussions are presented along with book signings. Children are treated to storytelling and balloon creations. This event is co-sponsored by the El Segundo Public Library and the Friends of the El Segundo Public Library. In May, please see the library calendar for the exact day and time of the event.
Kids who sign up for the Summer Reading Program get to hold off the summer heat by participating in some cool library-related activities. Younger readers get a grab bag, filled with surprise goodies, for every ten books they read. Kids in sixth grade and up get to make some great crafts. The program begins and ends with a party with special entertainment that delights all who attend.
