Please join the El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department as we host the annual 4th of July Celebration at Recreation Park on saturday, July 4, 2009.
The event will be broken into two events…
Daytime Activities, which run from 10 am – 2 pm The daytime activities will consist of many contests and races, as well as over 25 food booths and game booths that benefit our local community groups and ESHS groups. The daytime activities are highlighted by the annual Pie Eating contest at 1 pm, generously sponsored by the El Segundo Kiwanis Club and the annual Watermelon Eating contest at 1:30 pm, generously sponsored by the El Segundo Rotary Club. Than you to Kiwanis and Rotary for all of your support!
Evening activities, which run from 5 pm – 9 pm. The evening activities will consist of Food Booths and Live Entertainment, highlighted by the Fireworks Spectacular. The Food Booths will be along Eucalyptus Street at the Softball Field Snack Bar, sponsored by and benefiting the El Segundo Rotary Club and the Stevenson Field Snack Bar, sponsored by and benefiting El Segundo Babe Ruth Baseball League. The food booths will run from 5 pm – 9 pm. Live entertainment featuring classic rock from "Rod Lightning & the Thunderbolts of Love" will be at the Softball Field from 5 - 7 pm and "Dayton Borders Band" will be at the Clubhouse West Patio area from 7 – 9 pm.
The Fireworks Spectacular will begin promptly at 9 pm and it is sure to be a fantastic show. The National Anthem will be sung by El Segundo's own: Paige Ernest. Grandstand Seating tickets are on sale now at Checkout in Recreation Park for $3 each (pre-sale). Tickets will also be on sale on the day of the event from 5 pm – 8:45 pm at Stevenson Field for $5 each.
