City Manager Retires

After seven years at the helm, Mary Strenn retired from the City Manager's position on June 30.  Strenn was the first female City Manager in El Segundo's history.  During her tenure, Strenn oversaw the completion of the Downtown Improvement Project and the 9-1-1 Center for 24 hour emergency assistance, among others.

Jeff Stewart, Assistant City Manager and Acting Public Works Director,  stepped into the city's top position July 1.  Stewart, upon becoming City Manager, relinquished the Public Works Director position to Steve Finton.

Finton now pulls double duty as both the Public Works Director and the City Engineer.  He was hired as the new City Engineer in April.  Finton comes to El Segundo by way of the City of Torrance, where he also served as the City Engineer.
