"MAGIC on MAIN STREET" Holiday Tree Lighting Event!
Centennial Holiday Tree Lighting Event
The City of El Segundo’s Recreation & Parks Department proudly presents the “Magic on Main Street” Centennial Holiday Tree Lighting. This free event is the culmination of a year-long celebration of the City’s 100th birthday and takes place in a new location to accommodate many special attractions! Join us on Saturday, December 2 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm as we turn Library Park into a winter wonderland with snow sledding and snow play areas, decorated trees, strolling carolers, shopping at the craft boutique, Candy Cane Kids Zone game area, community and professional musical performances, featured food vendors from our Farmers Market, children’s train rides, Frosty the Snowman, a “green screen” portrait booth—and much more! As usual, children will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus—this year at his home away from home in the Library Park Gazebo. Starting November 27th, El Segundo residents with a valid 2017 or 2018 Recreation I.D Card, will have access to “fast pass” wrist bands available at the Clubhouse or Check Out Buildings in Recreation Park. Please note supplies are limited and there are only 300 available wristbands. The wristband will allow a short cut to meeting Santa from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The historic one hundred-foot Christmas Pine Tree which was planted in 1930 was also donated by the El Segundo Woman’s Club. We will light up the tree in a spectacular fashion promptly at 5:30 pm. The park trees and gazebo will remain lighted throughout the holiday season for viewing and strolling pleasure.
