Call 2-1-1 for help in finding the Health & Human Services you need

INFO LINE OF Los Angeles transitions to "211 LA County". On July 1, 2005, INFO LINE of Los Angeles began offering access to its information and referral services via a new dialing code:  2-1-1.  Be aware that cell phones will not be able to reach 2-1-1 until the end of this calendar year.  Until then, you may continue to use the toll-free number (800) 339-6993.  For more information, visit the new website at www.211LosAngeles.org.

In addition to the services being provided since 1981 (access to over 28,000 health and human service programs), the agency is offering assistance with health insurance enrollments for families with kids 0-5 to such programs as Healthy Families, Medi-Cal, and Healthy Kids.  With the more accessible number it will be easier to obtain information and referral services and to receive assistance with navigating the complex social service network of Los Angeles County.  They will continue to offer services 24 hours, 7 days per week:

  • Where to go to get a hot meal
  • Where to get free or low-cost health care
  • Information on child care
  • Help with care for aging parents
  • Employment resources
  • How to find a bed when you have no place to sleep
  • How to get help for a drinking problem
  • Where to volunteer to make a difference in someone's life
