Only those applicants who meet the City's minimum
qualifications, appear most qualified, and meet the City's particular needs will be invited to the examination process. The examination will consist of a written, multiple choice
examination (pass/fail). Candidates must also submit proof of their ability to type at a rate of at least 30 words per minute; 40 words per minute is required for appointment to
Communications Dispatcher II. The employment eligibility list is normally valid for one (1) year. All offers of employment are conditional pending results of a city-paid
medical examination (which includes a drug-alcohol screen), fingerprinting, background and reference check, and may include psychological and polygraph examinations and occupational
assessments.
