Evening Book Discussion Group Featuring Kitchens of the Great Midwest
Join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month. Free to all, the meetings will be held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Friends of the Library Room.
For our first discussion of the season, the library is pleased to present author J. Ryan Stradal as he discusses his novel Kitchens of the Great Midwest on Wednesday, September 28.A summary of the book reads:
When Lars Thorvald's wife, Cynthia, falls in love with wine--and a dashing sommelier--he's left to raise their baby, Eva, on his own. He's determined to pass on his love of food to his daughter--starting with pureed pork shoulder. As Eva grows, she finds her solace and salvation in the flavors of her native Minnesota. From Scandinavian lutefisk to hydroponic chocolate habaneros, each ingredient represents one part of Eva's journey as she becomes the star chef behind a legendary and secretive pop-up supper club.
The library is located at 111 W. Mariposa Avenue and Main Street. Call (310) 524-2728 for additional information.
