First up for the year is a discussion, led by library staff, of Jodi Picoult's novel Small Great Things on Wednesday, January 25.A summary of the book reads:
During Ruth Jefferson's shift as a labor and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital, she begins a routine checkup on a newborn, only to be told a few minutes later that she's been assigned to another patient. The parents are white supremacists and Ruth is African American. When the baby goes into cardiac arrest the next day, while Ruth is alone with her, Ruth must decide whether to follow the parents' wishes or to intervene.
