Evening Book Discussion Group Featuring Kitchens of the Great Midwest
Join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month. Free to all, the meetings will be held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Friends of the Library Room.
For our first discussion of the season, the library is pleased to present author J. Ryan Stradal as he discusses his novel Kitchens of the Great Midwest on Wednesday, September 28.A summary of the book reads:
When Lars Thorvald's wife, Cynthia, falls in love with wine--and a dashing sommelier--he's left to raise their baby, Eva, on his own. He's determined to pass on his love of food to his daughter--starting with pureed pork shoulder. As Eva grows, she finds her solace and salvation in the flavors of her native Minnesota. From Scandinavian lutefisk to hydroponic chocolate habaneros, each ingredient represents one part of Eva's journey as she becomes the star chef behind a legendary and secretive pop-up supper club.

Senior Housing Board Meeting Senior Housing Board Meeting at Park Vista
The library's Drop-In Lobby Events feature a four-program series with library staff and, on October 20, members of True Food Kitchen, leading hands-on activities and lecture presentations.
At 12:00pm on Wednesday, October 5, library staff will demonstrate how to make festive, seasonal candles using jars.

El Segundo Historical Committee Meeting The El Segundo Historical Committee needs pictures of your home, neighborhood, business, downtown areas, school, church and family activities that give a view of El Segundo's past.
If you do not wish to donate your photos or other memorabilia, the Committee will make copies and return your originals. Please identify your photos as fully as possible.
