Planning & Building Safety's Planning Commission was established pursuant to the Planning Laws of the State of California (Sec. 65100-65106) on August 20, 1946, by City Ordinance #300. The commission is comprised of 5 members who serve with minimal compensation, for 4-year terms, without term limits. The commission makes recommendations to the City Council on the adoption or amendment of the City's General Plan; performs duties with respect to land subdivision, planning and zoning as prescribed by City and State law; and, advises the City Council on those matters falling within its charged responsibilities in a manner reflecting concern for the overall development and environment of the City as a setting for human activities. The Commission meets on the 2nd. and 4th. Thursday of each month, at 5:30p.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers.
12:00  PM Library Drop-InProgram: Wrapped Wire Bird's Nest Pendant

The library's Drop-In Programs feature a series of six hands-on activities and lecture presentations, led by library staff and local guest speakers.

Add this fun piece of jewelry to your collection after library staff show how to create it. This program takes place at 12:00pm on Thursday, May 24.

All workshops are free and include supplies. For the crafting demonstrations, please feel free to bring your own supplies for inspiration. For additional information about this or other Drop-In Programs, please call (310) 524-2728.

3:00  PM El Segundo Certified Farmers Market

El Segundo Certified Farmers Market is open every Thursday throughout the year from 3pm to 7pm. Farm Fresh produce, prepared food booths and crafts are available for purchase weekly. The market is located in front of City Hall on the 300 block of Main Street. Main Street is closed to through traffic from Grand to Holly beginning at 1pm. Nearby street parking is available surrounding the market. Handicap parking is available on Holly Street East of Main.

Members of the Friends of the El Segundo Public Library meet to discuss library-related activities. The business meeting is held the fourth Thursday of the month, on a bi-monthly basis, at 4:00pm in the library's Friends of the Library Room--January, March, May, July, September, and November. The business meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

Join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month. Free to all, the meetings will be held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Friends of the Library Room.

On Wednesday, May 30, join library staff in a discussion of the novel Love and Other Consolation Prizes by Jamie Ford.
