Recreation & Parks Commission Meeting Recreation & Parks Commission: (Recreation & Parks) was established on March 23, 1938 by Resolution #448. It is comprised of 5 members, who must be residents of El Segundo. Commissioners serve with minimal compensation for 4-year terms, without term limits. The commission advises the City Council on all matters pertaining to recreation, parks, parkways and street trees. It makes recommendations to the City Council regarding level of services, policies and assists in implementing Recreation and Parks Department improvements and programs, including youth counseling, senior outreach, golf operations, city transportation, and in the acquisition and disposal of park property. The commission meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m., in City Hall Council Chambers.

3rd Thursday - Farmer's Market Come join us for our new Third Thursday promotion at the El Segundo Certified Farmers Market. Each month we will have special events and activities on the 3rd Thursday at our Farmers Market. The Farmers Market is hosted on the 400 Block of Main Street every Thursday from 3-7 PM.

Concerts in the Library: Mambo Martini--Jazz & Swing Well-known jazz violinist and vocalist Susie Hansen has paired with talented songstress Valerie Peterson in an exciting lounge act. They sing unique vocal arrangements of familiar jazz standards, venerable Latin songs, and familiar tunes from the Great American Songbook. This performance will also include instrumental music, lively Swing and Latin standards that will appeal to all jazz lovers. This final performance of the season will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, in the Friends of the Library Room. The program is part of a series called Concerts in the Library, featuring classical and jazz programs, as well as music from different traditions.
Programs in the series will take place the third Saturday each month from September to December. All concerts are free and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.
