3:30  PM 2014 Fall Teen Program: Book Discussions and Root Beer Floats
Between October 15th and November 19th, kids in the 6th grade and up are invited to join in on some great fall activities. Programs will take place on Wednesdays, from 3:30-4:30pm in the Library's Friends of the Library Room.

October 22nd: Hang out with other teens, talk about books, and enjoy root beer floats. Bring the book you have read, or are reading, to share with others. Please make sure the books are on your reading level.

Farmer's Market is held every Thursday on Main Street between Holly and Pine Avenues.

5:30  PM Planning Commission Meeting

Planning & Building Safety's Planning Commission was established pursuant to the Planning Laws of the State of California (Sec. 65100-65106) on August 20, 1946, by City Ordinance #300. The commission is comprised of 5 members who serve with minimal compensation, for 4-year terms, without term limits. The commission makes recommendations to the City Council on the adoption or amendment of the City's General Plan; performs duties with respect to land subdivision, planning and zoning as prescribed by City and State law; and, advises the City Council on those matters falling within its charged responsibilities in a manner reflecting concern for the overall development and environment of the City as a setting for human activities. The Commission meets on the 2nd. and 4th. Thursday of each month, at 5:30p.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers.

At the Trees to the Sea, Imperial Highway, El Segundo, CA

Featuring a Clean-Up Competition and Community Picnic! All Volunteers are welcome: bring friends, family, and co-workers!

TREE MUSKETEERS Youth Managers will start up the activities, form the teams and start the trash pick-up competition.

6:30  PM Evening Book Discussion Featuring I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You
Join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month. Free to all, the meetings will be held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Friends of the Library Room.

On Wednesday, October 29th, take part in a discussion of Courtney Maum's novel I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You. A summary of the book reads:

Skillfully balancing biting wit with a deep emotional undercurrent, debut novelist Courtney Maum has created the perfect portrait of an imperfect family and a heartfelt exporation of marriage, love, and fidelity.

7:00  PM Friends of the Library Business Meeting
Members of the Friends of the El Segundo Public Library meet to discuss library-related activities. The business meeting is held on a quarterly basis the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Library's Friends of the Library Room--January, April, July, and October. The business meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

Please note the regularly scheduled meeting of Wednesday, October 15, has been moved to this meeting date of Wednesday, October 29.
