Concerts in the Library--Sugar in the Gourd
Library - Library Events
The four women who comprise this delightful Americana/Roots style band have combined their diverse backgrounds and songwriting talents to form a sound that is as unique as it is captivating.  You'll hear beautiful three-part vocal harmonies along with fine musicianship on violin, guitar, mandolin, upright bass, and banjo.  This performance will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, in the Friends of the Library Room.  The program is part of a series called Concerts in the Library, featuring classical and jazz programs, as well as music from different traditions.

Programs in the series will take place the third Saturday each month from September to December.  All concerts are free and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

Evening Book Discussion Featuring Bellweather Rhapsody
Library - Library Events
Join library staff, authors, and other avid readers in a lively discussion focusing on a book-of-the-month.  Free to all, the meetings will be held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Friends of the Library Room.

Kate Racculia's novel Bellweather Rhapsody will be the topic of this evening's discussion.  A summary of the book reads:

A high school music festival goes awry when a young prodigy disappears from a hotel room that was the site of a famous crime, in this whip-smart novel sparkling with the dark and giddy pop culture pleasures of The Shining, Agatha Christie, and Glee.

The library is located at 111 W. Mariposa Avenue and Main Street.  Call (310) 524-2728 for additional information.
