The City is working to help local businesses safely reopen when the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health allows. It is anticipated that the initial reopening protocols for restaurants will restrict capacity to a maximum of 25 percent, along with other important safety requirements. Some retailers are currently limited to curbside pick-up only at this time. With this in mind, the City has created this application to solicit feedback from restaurateurs and retailers in El Segundo on how they would propose to add additional capacity through outdoor dining and retail space on a temporary basis.
Each application will be promptly reviewed by the City's internal Business Reopening Task Force. City staff will work with each applicant to determine feasibility of each proposal. Once requests have been received the City Manager will quickly issue the necessary guidelines and orders to meet reasonable requests.
Please note, you should contact your insurance company to understand if you will need to modify your existing policy, if your operational footprint changes. You will need to add the City as an additional insured. This is already done by restaurants with existing outdoor dining and it is a common practice. Also, please be mindful of your business and residential neighbors and the surrounding area in your proposal.
Businesses will be required to obtain a Temporary Use and/or Encroachment Permit from the City to allow for additional capacity. The City will consider temporarily waiving fees for these permits.
Your feedback is critical as the City seeks input from the local business community as to how we can best help you reopen and get El Segundo Back to Business.
Applications are currently being accepted.
