El Segundo's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) addresses the City maintenance, upgrade, or repair of a variety of City facilities:
- City-owned buildings
- City sidewalks
- City streets
- Information Systems Department telecommunication lines
- Park areas and playgrounds
- Sanitary sewer system
- Storm drain system
- Water system
Major City-managed construction projects are the result of CIP planning and implementation. Some City construction projects occur annually to regularly maintain the infrastructure. Others have to be planned after infrastructure repair needs become known and enough funding has been set aside to pay for the repairs.
Project Requests for Proposals and Bids
A Public Works Request for Proposal (RFP) is used to solicit detailed consultant service proposals in order to plan and design a project. A Public Works bid is used to formally request cost proposals from State-licensed contractors to construct an already-designed project.
